Open Call | Residencies 2022 We're starting the year with our annual residencies open call!  DEADLINE: 10 March 2021 Pro Helvetia has launched a call for applications for residencies aimed at cultural practitioners from  Switzerland  (e.g. artists, curators, cultural intermediaries) and cultural practitioners from  Southern ,  East,   West  and  Central Africa .  The residencies last for three months at most and offer the opportunity to gain broad insight into a different cultural context, establish connections with local artists and develop collaborations. Open Call for Speakers for ‘Dysfunctionalities in Contemporary Art in Times of Conflict’ (Cyprus) The conference ‘Dysfunctionalities in Contemporary Art | in Times of Conflict’ will take place 13 March 2020 at A.G. Leventis Gallery. It is being financed by Cyprus Cultural Services and organised by the Cyprus Chamber of fine arts, and is a continuation of the Dysfunctionalities in Contemporary Art programme. Looking at art as the imprint of humanity but also as a lever of creative energy that feeds cultural heritage, the conference will address Art and Artist’s rights under the prism and conditions of political tension, investigating the relationship between the artist and the political strategy of a state. 20.01.2021 Forecast > Interdisciplinary Mentorship Programme (Germany) Forecast offers artists and creative thinkers from anywhere in the world the chance to work with accomplished mentors toward bringing their projects to fruition. For each edition, Forecast selects six mentors of various disciplines who offer interested participants their expertise in specifying and realising their pioneering project ideas. The following mentors are participating in the sixth edition of Forecast: architect Tatiana Bilbao; data democracy expert Francesca Bria; experimental singer and composer Sofia Jernberg; cartoonist Ulli Lust; choreographer Mathilde Monnier; and artist Emeka Ogboh. INACT > Call for Performance-related Work and Workshop Proposals (France) fr INACT is a festival of performance art taking place in Strasbourg, France since 2011. The next edition of this multi-disciplinary gathering will take place from 7-9 May 2021 with several evening events and a day programme. The organisers invite artists using all media – musicians, visual artists, actors, dancers, poets – who regard their work as related to performance practices, and whose proposed projects relate to this year’s theme: ‘Infra-thin’. Performing arts may range from vocal and instrumental music, dance, and theatre to pantomime, sung verse, and beyond. They include numerous cultural expressions that reflect human creativity and that are also found to some extent in many other intangible cultural heritage domains. In performing arts we find a lot of movement as young actors or players go about presenting their performances. In these movements, we find creativity that is aesthetically rich thus, performing arts and aesthetic mobility are greatly related. The paper examines indigenous and contemporary forms of theatre, storytelling, and imaginative story play with children and young people in Malawian schools and rural areas by teaching from both intellectual and normal amateur theatre practitioners. DE SUBMERGE is a dance workshop and performance festival organised by Lake Studios Berlin. They are looking for one international choreographer (and three based in Berlin) to participate in a choreographer’s lab, 21 July – 1 August 2020. The choreographer will be asked to give a 10-20 minute (+/-) performance, and teach a related two-day workshop diving into the creative process of that work. The workshops will be offered free of charge to the dance community. The performance will be part of the regular festival programming on 1st August. Offered: 600€ per choreographer.
